David's Story Part 2

This month's David stories teach preschoolers that, "God gives me good friends." The first two weeks of the month, children will learn of David and Jonathan's amazing friendship. Then, they will learn that David was such a good friend to Jonathan that he sought out Jonathan's remaining family and cared for Mephibosheth. During these first three weeks, preschoolers will talk about what it means to be a friend, how to help and serve those around them.

Finally, preschoolers will celebrate God and His friendship in the last week of the month. They will dance and sing and praise their heavenly Father. Be prepared for lots of noise and crazy preschool fun on this day.

David's Story- Part 1

October introduces the theme “David’s Story” to preschoolers. This theme will continue through November and share some of our favorites stories of David while teaching children that God has one Big Story. Not only will they learn that God has a Big Story, but they will see that they are a part of that story!
This month’s David stories teach preschoolers that God can help us do big things. Stories include David saving his sheep from the lion, Samuel anointing David as king, David facing Goliath, and David being strong in battle. Look for a special take-home in our store at the end of August that will help preschoolers take these stories home and think about what kind of stories God is telling in their lives.Kathy Hill Editor in Chief, First Look The reThink Group

September Series- Go TEAM!!!

This September, we’re doing something we’ve never done before. We’re tackling all three basic truths in one month. While doing this, we’re keeping the Bottom Line as simply “God loves me.” God loves me because He made me. And, He loves me so much that He sent Jesus to be my friend forever! Because we are covering all three basic truths this month, we will start with a short creation lesson that emphasizes that God made each and every one of us. We will then return to the story of the lost sheep to emphasize how much God loves us. He loves us so much, He will always search for us. We then visit Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to learn that not only does God love us, but He will help us. Finally, we learn that Jesus is our good friend in the story of calming the storm. God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever. The final week will be spent on a very fun review of all the stories ensuring that the preschoolers hear all three basic truths one more time.Kathy Hill Editor in Chief, First Look The reThink Group

Creation Station!!!!

In May we talked about Doing What's Right....For the past two months we have talked about THE CREATION!  God saw all that he had made, and it was very good,” Genesis 1:31, NIV. That is what we will be teaching our preschoolers this month. God created the entire world in seven days, and everything He made was “good.”For the months of June and July, we invite you and your preschoolers to “Creation Station,” an amazing place where they can learn about each day of creation as a special train car brings it into the station. We’ve provided our typical First Look lesson but intensified the Bible story time just a bit by combining the introductory sketch and Bible story so that the Storyteller is the conductor of the railroad.Kathy Hill Editor in Chief, First Look The reThink Group

A Friend FOREVER - a good lesson to learn! April 2012

Hello First Look Friends!
Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Isn’t that AMAZING? He wants to be MY friend. He wants to be YOUR friend. Jesus wants to be my friend, forever. What a life-changing truth. What a foundational truth. What an awesome thing to put in the hearts of our preschoolers.
This month starts with excitement and fun as your preschoolers have an opportunity to wave palm branches and yell “Hosanna” during the Entry Celebration. What an amazing day that must have been. The following week we celebrate Easter, leading our little ones through the seriousness of the Last Supper and Crucifixion to the joy of Easter day itself. He is risen! He is alive!
We continue through the month of April learning that while He was on earth, Jesus was a good friend to those around Him. He taught us how to be a good friend too. Through the story of Mary and Martha, we learn that Jesus wants to spend time with us and that good friends spend time together without the “busy” taking over. That’s a lesson for today’s world, isn’t it? We learn that being friends with Jesus means giving Him everything, even our most prized possessions. And, finally we learn that our best friend ever is preparing a place for us, a place where we can be with Him forever. How amazing.

March...EVERYONE!

We are continuing our theme of love into March with the Bottom Line “Jesus loves everyone.” He does. He loves us even when we feel like nobody else does as He shows the woman at the well. He loves us even when we’ve made some very poor choices like Zacchaeus. Jesus loves us. Wow! Think about how the little hearts of our preschoolers can be impacted by that information. Even when we mess up, He still loves us. And, Zacchaeus shows us that accepting His love can transform us.  Later in the month, we will introduce the idea that because Jesus loves us, we should spread His love through the story of the Good Samaritan. This is a favorite story among the preschool set (because of the Band-Aids I think), and such a great lesson for them. The love of Jesus needs to be shared. Our final week encourages them to go and tell others about Jesus’ great love. What an amazing month!

LOVE is in the AiR!

It’s the month of L-O-V-E. Love! So, let’s celebrate it by showing our love to the one who loves us more than anyone!
This February, we will teach our preschoolers to: “Love . . . God with all your heart,” (Matthew 22:37, NIrV). And how do we love God with our all our hearts? Why, we look to Jesus to teach us. Through the month of February, Jesus will teach us how to love God. We can love God by doing what He wants us to do as He sat in the temple as a young boy of 12. We can love God by loving others, and we can love God by talking to Him through prayer.
By sharing what Jesus taught us while He was here on earth, we pray that our preschoolers will begin to understand how to love their heavenly Father who loves them so very much.  ©2011 Orange.

A New Year! 2012

A new year gives us another reason to celebrate that Jesus wants to be my friend forever!
This JANUARY, we will share several of the miracles that Jesus performed in His short time with us here on earth, showing us that nothing is too hard for Him. If Jesus is so amazing and powerful that He can walk on water then surely He can help me learn to share with my friends.
Preschoolers will hear how Jesus turned water to wine (we call it a “super fancy drink”), helped His friends fill their nets with fish, fed thousands with two fishes and five loaves of bread, and calmed a storm by just telling it to stop. Through each story, our little ones will learn that Jesus can do anything, and “With God, all things are possible,” (Matthew 19:26).
Take time this month to share the awesome power of God with your preschoolers. Show them your awe as you share these miraculous stories. Think of how those surrounding Jesus must have felt as He performed miracle after miracle doing things that were not humanly possible and proving time and again that He was the Son of God. ©2011 Orange.
